  2. townscapes of his native Paris, many
  3. depicting Montmartre, often from postcard
  4. photographs. Utrillo was the son of Suzanne
  5. Valadan, a trapeze-performer who was
  6. encouraged to become an artist herself after
  7. posing as a model for many painters of the
  8. day. His work from 1908-14 is considered his
  9. best.
